I was having a discussion with my daughter the other day. She was telling me how she heard about how a group wanted to open an all Black School, I think it was in Ontario but where it is really isn't relevent to my debate/ discussion.
My daughter said I thought Segrigation was a thing of the past?
We both agreed that if an all White School was proposed and announced, there would be a very LOUD back lash involved.
Also one hears of Varioius "Marches" of ethnic groups, but if there were to be a "White" March of ANY kind it would be accused of being KKK !
I want it to be noted that I am NOT predjudiced and I think that anyone should be able to demonstrate their ethnicity in a kind, proud, and peaceful way, while warmly welcoming anyone to join in and learn / participate, but is there some sort of double standard going on?
I guess if one wanted to take out the "race" card and put "status" in it's place, (Rich vs Poor) there are definately schools, clubs, and orginizations that are "predjudiced" to that of which the only valid colour is green ($$) and that is accepted and legal.
Sometimes human kind just makes me SAD!

The new school is in the G.T.A. There is quite a lot of controversy regarding the school. It is only going to be for Kindergarten to Grade 5. This is suppose to appease the public regarding the shooting of Jordan Manners last year. Even Jordan's mother is against this school.
I agree with you Ccrew. So do many others in the G.T.A. Many of us believe that this is setting Society back instead of going forward.
Now we get to sit back and watch history being changed - for the worse. _________________

AMEN. My question is how can blacks call themselves African-American when they were not born in Africa? You are right about the race card. Why can't everyone born here be AMERICAN, no matter what their color? _________________

I agree, this is only going to make the problem worse, now we are going to be going back in time. So what next, all the diferent races are going to want their own schools? How are people going to learn to get along if they are going to be segregated? Not teaching our kids how to get along is it? Mary _________________

I agree with everyone with one slight alteration
It is a Canadian school that we are talkling about so should read we are all Canadian or in the bigger picture of things should be all united to our Country of living!

I agree with everyone on this whether it be a Canadian or an America school. We do not need to be going backwards or we will have history repeating itself all over again. _________________
