Ok the dryer is always hungry for socks, we all know this. So now we have an odd sock, we've hunted high and low for the mate and it's gone to the nether region that is the hungry dryer. Now what do we do?
1- sock hand puppet! Kids love this! Got a kid to entertain, a kid wanting to entertain or do it up yourself and give it as a gift. Give it a crazy name too! Maude and Exeter, the married sock puppet couple, come out to play with my youngest nephews in the summer time (they're snow birds and spend winters in Orlando, the puppets that is,... and my sisters and they're kids don't venture far in the winter).
2- Damp duster for those hard to manuever areas. Inside that little hole in the stereo speakers, and the odd sock duster is free unlike those things you buy at the store.
3- Cat toy. Go and buy one of those big bells and put it in the sock, sprinkle some catnip and sew it shut. You have never seen anything quite so funny as 2 stoned cats chasing socks across the floor.
4- Skin saving long nail scratcher. I stopped biting my nails as my resolution this year and getting used to the nails is difficult, especially when I get an itch. I think some of those places may actually leave a scar So now I put the odd sock on my hand like a glove and scratch to my hearts content, without ripping myself open.
5- Draft stopper. Ok this one takes some sewing know-how. Take your mismatched socks and cut the toes out of however many you need to get the proper length, sew sock to sock until you have a long tube. Sew one end shut then stuff with... old newspapers (see previous post) or used dryer lint then sew other end shut. Lay across doorways or windows where the draft is coming in and viola! And yes, it is cheaper than buying those fancy ones at the store that roll or look like weiner dogs or whatever.
Hope these helped! _________________
